Orchestrating Content Workflow at Ellucian Using AI Skills
Most organizations are experimenting with AI chat tools to help writers draft content faster—but the real bottleneck in content production happens before writing begins. This interactive presentation is a case study that explores how Ellucian moved beyond AI chat to implement AI skills that initiate and orchestrate our content workflow. Using an AI gateway integrated with many of our enterprise tools, AI now receives content requests, assigns work, gathers release-specific research, and prepares writers with the context they need to start strong. Attendees will see metrics comparing our old and new workflows, walk through of the end-to-end process, and hear candid lessons learned, including the bumps, governance challenges, and change-management realities of putting AI to work in production.
Participants will leave with practical, transferable insights, including:
- How AI skills differ from AI chat and why that distinction matters for content operations
- How to use AI to start a content workflow, not just assist during writing
- Ways to automate request intake, writer assignment, and release research using integrated tools
- Metrics comparing manual workflows to AI-orchestrated workflows (time, effort, and quality)
- What worked, what didn’t, and what surprised us when deploying AI in a production environment
- Common bumps in the road, including governance, trust, and adoption challenges
- How to identify high-value “tedious tasks” in your own workflow that are ideal for AI skills
